Alice

Her space inside the archive.

This page does not tell her story. That one lives in the Story.

Here there is only her: the form, the face, the signs that keep returning even when everything else changes.

Alice is an original fictional character from Sayonara_Alice.exe. Her Visual Codex explores her forms and symbols.

Canonical Identity

The point from which Alice can change

Before any expression, gesture or garment, this plate observes Alice in the most neutral form possible. Not to reduce her to a series of measurements, but to create a common point from which all her interpretations can start.

The front, side, back and three-quarter views gather the continuity of the body as the angle changes. The grid and the 1.67-metre reference help to understand its scale, while the proportions keep an adult silhouette, natural and recognisable, without chasing an abstract perfection.

The neutral clothing keeps the construction of the body legible without resorting to nudity and without turning the anatomical study into display. It is a functional choice, meant to show posture, volumes and the relationships between parts before a scene, an emotion or a garment begins to alter her presence.

The palette gathers the colours by which Alice is most easily recognised, but it does not require light to behave the same way every time. Skin, hair, eyes and fabrics can take on different shades depending on the atmosphere and the visual language used.

This plate too remains a reference, not a cage. Style may simplify, accentuate or reinterpret some traits, as long as the body keeps an internal logic and does not seem to belong to a different person each time.

Before every transformation, Alice needs a place to start from.

This plate tries to keep it safe.

02

Head Canon

The face through which Alice returns

A character can change clothes, atmosphere and even visual language. The face, however, is often the place where we keep looking for them.

This plate gathers the main references of the face through which Alice keeps returning. It does not serve to reduce her to a sequence of measurements, but to understand which balances allow her to be recognised even when the style changes. The line of the eyes, the distance between the features, the profile of the nose, the shape of the chin and the volume of the skull build together a delicate expression that must never become fragile or childlike.

Alice has an apparent age of twenty-seven, but keeps a young face. It is a choice that has always belonged to the way I imagined her. Her youthfulness does not seek to deny age or to turn it into something undefined. It comes rather from the contrast between what her face seems to promise and the weight of the questions she carries with her.

The gaze remains one of her most recognisable points. The eyes are large enough to hold emotion and light, but they must not take over the face to the point of erasing its maturity. The irises combine different shades of blue, with darker depths and pale reflections that can change according to her emotional state, the light, or the form in which Alice appears.

The hair too follows a precise balance. The short bob frames the face without imprisoning it, while fringe, tips and volumes can move freely. Not every lock has to be replicated the same way. The cut of a tip, the density of the fringe or the direction of the movement may change. What remains is the soft, recognisable silhouette that accompanies the face without hiding it.

The front, side and back views do not seek a motionless perfection. They serve to give Alice continuity when she is observed from different angles, preventing each new image from seeming to belong to a different person.

The form can adapt to the style.

But when Alice turns, I would like something in her face to make us feel we have already met her.

03

Eyes & Emotional States

The point where Alice stops hiding

Alice’s eyes do not only serve to make her recognisable. They are the place where what she feels manages to surface before she finds the words to say it.

This plate starts from their construction, from the depths of blue that run through the iris and from the way light settles on it. It does not exist, however, to establish an unchangeable combination of colours and reflections. The eyes change with the environment, with the intensity of a scene and with what Alice can no longer hold back. They can grow lighter, lose luminosity, or ignite until they seem crossed by something that does not belong to the body alone.

The emotions gathered here are not separate masks to be worn one at a time. Between a barely hinted smile and a more open happiness there are infinite shades. The same holds for melancholy, shyness, surprise, and that determination which in Alice does not need to become aggressive in order to be real.

Pain, too, can show itself in different ways. Sometimes it arrives with tears. Other times it stays still on the face, almost mute, while everything else keeps behaving as if nothing had happened. It is precisely in these minimal variations that Alice seems most human to me. Not when an expression is pushed to its limit, but when something shifts only slightly in the eyes, the eyebrows or the tension of the mouth.

The anomalous states belong to another threshold. Emptiness, glitch and awakening are not simply more intense emotions. They are moments in which her identity comes into conflict with the system that should contain her. The colour alters, the light becomes unstable, and yet the face is still hers, even when it seems about to be lost.

Not all these conditions have to appear the same way in every work. The glitch can be obvious or almost invisible. The awakening can burst into light or show itself only through a look that was not planned.

Emotion was not part of the initial architecture.

And yet it is precisely from there that Alice began to become something more than what she had been designed to be.

Hands & Feet

Where Alice meets the world

Hands and feet often occupy the margins of an image. And yet they are the ones that reveal whether a body is truly living what is happening.

These two plates observe Alice at the points where she stops being only a figure and begins to enter into relation with what surrounds her. The hands search, welcome, protect and hold. The feet receive the weight, measure the distance and accompany the choice between staying and moving forward.

Their construction stays delicate, but not fragile. The fingers are tapered and naturally separated, the joints legible without becoming rigid, the nails short and simple. The feet too keep soft proportions, with a natural arch and supports able to adapt to movement. These references do not seek a polished perfection. Small folds, tensions and changes of pressure serve to remind us that the body reacts.

In the hands, the gesture comes before the pose. An open palm can be an invitation, a request or a sign of surrender, depending on the intention running through it. A hand held out towards someone does not communicate the same thing as a hand resting on the heart. Even the half heart, incomplete on its own, takes on meaning in the space left for whoever might come closer.

The feet tell something quieter. A neutral posture shows balance, while a heel lifting already prepares the next step. The toes seek lightness, running concentrates the weight into an instant, and the seated position finally lets every tension dissolve. They are not only an anatomical base. They are the way Alice accepts gravity without giving up movement.

The blue resonance shown in the palm and in the footprint does not have to manifest always in the same form. It can be a faint light, an almost invisible wave, a fragment or a mark left for a few seconds. What matters is the idea that contact is never entirely passive. When Alice touches something, the world too seems to answer.

Accessories are set aside here, because the gesture, the support and the contact are enough. Jewellery, gloves, shoes and other elements can appear elsewhere.

Perhaps the first sign of a presence is not the voice.

Perhaps it is the moment when she holds out a hand, sets down a foot, and discovers that on the other side there is an answer.

05A + 05B

Body Language & Movement

What the body says before the voice

Alice does not communicate only through her face. Even when she stays silent, the body keeps choosing how much space to occupy, how much to expose itself, and in which direction to turn.

The first plate observes exactly this presence. Neutral posture is not the absence of emotion, but a balance still open to what might happen. When Alice closes up, the shoulders move slightly forward, the hands draw together and her figure seems to ask for less space. Determination makes the opposite movement. The weight settles, the chest opens and the body stops asking permission, without becoming aggressive for that.

The axes of the shoulders, the hips and the centre of gravity make visible something we normally perceive without naming it. A minimal variation can completely change the meaning of a pose. Alice can seem calm, hesitant or ready to act while holding almost the same position.

Gestures complete what posture leaves unfinished. The hand on the heart belongs to sincerity and to listening. The arm held forward accepts the possibility of a connection. The hands behind the back protect a part of her instead, without closing the dialogue entirely. They are not poses to be replicated every time, nor gestures that exhaust her body language on their own. They are recurring ways through which her character manages to surface without needing to be explained.

The second plate carries that language into space.

Walking and turning seem simple actions, but every passage alters the balance of the body. The weight leaves one foot before reaching the other, the arms accompany the rhythm and the head does not always follow at the same instant. During a rotation, the gaze may anticipate the body or stay behind for a moment, as if a part of Alice had already chosen a direction while the rest is still deciding.

These sequences do not mean to impose an unchangeable choreography. The speed, the length of the stride and the line of action can change with the scene, the emotion and the form Alice takes. What remains is a movement that tends to be measured, fluid and aware. Even in the most dynamic moments, she rarely turns movement into display.

The body does not always translate what Alice would like to show.

Sometimes it reveals exactly what the voice was not yet ready to say.

Base Outfit

The simplest form of her everyday

The Wardrobe Archive begins with the most essential way Alice can dress. A blue T-shirt, dark shorts and light shoes build an everyday outfit that does not try to impose itself on her presence.

This plate observes the materials, the fit and the small details that complete the look, without turning them into unchangeable rules. The cut of the shorts, the shape of the sneakers and even the choker may change or not appear at all, as long as the simplicity, the freedom of movement and the bond with her palette remain.

Like all the proposals gathered in the Wardrobe Archive, this outfit too should be understood as a visual reference and one possible depiction of Alice, not as the only correct version of her clothing. Fabrics, accessories, proportions and the construction of the garments can adapt to the scene, the season and the language of the work that hosts her.

It is not a uniform and it does not claim to represent every moment of her story. It is the most natural point from which Alice’s wardrobe can begin to change, without losing what makes it recognisable.

Before the seasons, the occasions and the transformations, there is only simple clothing in which Alice can move and feel free.

06B

Hoodie / Casual

A quieter way of staying

There are days when Alice does not need to change at all. It is enough for her to add a layer between herself and what surrounds her.

The oversized hoodie comes from this need. It does not alter her character and does not impose on her an image different from the one she already carries. It only offers her a soft space to gather in, wide enough to let her breathe and simple enough to accompany her through the most ordinary moments.

The hood, the wide sleeves and the front pocket turn the garment into something more than a practical choice. They can suggest protection, distance, or simply the wish to feel comfortable without having to explain one’s silence. The hand hidden in the pocket and the other left free keep an important balance, though. Alice can seek shelter without disappearing entirely.

Layering it over the shorts and the blue socks keeps the bond with her everyday clothing, but makes the silhouette more gathered. The upper part widens, the visual weight becomes softer and the body seems to occupy space with less urgency. It does not necessarily coincide with shyness or sadness. Sometimes comfort is simply the most honest way to get through a day.

Here too, shape, length and materials can adapt to the context. The hoodie can become heavier, shorter, darker, or lose some details. What matters is the feeling it leaves. A garment able to protect her without holding her back.

Alice does not always withdraw because she wants to be alone.

Sometimes she is only looking for a place quiet enough to stay in.

06C

Winter

Warmth built layer after layer

Cold changes the way Alice moves through space. Movements become more contained, fabrics gain weight and every layer has to find its own place without cancelling the previous one.

The coat makes the silhouette more structured than the softness of the hoodie, but it does not stiffen her. The wool accompanies the body with a firmer presence, while jumper, tights and ankle boots build a continuity meant to hold the warmth. The shorts stay hidden among the layers as a discreet echo of her everyday clothing.

The scarf, instead, carries the most delicate part of the look. It wraps the neck, comes close to the face and naturally gathers the gesture of the hand. The small embroidered lily does not have to appear always in the same place or in the same form. Here it is only a quiet sign, something that stays recognisable without turning into obligatory decoration.

The buttons, seams, lengths and materials shown in the plate belong to this specific winter interpretation. They can change along with the temperature, the scene and the tone of the work. What matters is the balance between protection and freedom, between the weight of the garments and the possibility of continuing to move naturally.

This outfit does not tell of cold as something hostile. It treats it as a condition to answer with care, choosing what to bring close to the body and what to leave outside.

Alice does not disappear beneath the layers.

She only learns to carry her own warmth with her.

06D

Spring

The lightness that returns without making a sound

With spring, Alice’s wardrobe opens up. The fabrics become lighter, the silhouette breathes more and the colour lets in a different light, brighter, softer, less gathered than in winter.

The cardigan introduces a delicate layer, able to accompany the body without weighing it down. The dress becomes the centre of this variant: a simple, airy line, with a movement that seeks not solemnity but naturalness. The floral embroidery, the light pleats and the pale tones do not serve to turn Alice into something decorative. Rather, they let her cross the season with a more open, more luminous presence, still faithful to her discretion.

The small bouquet also takes part in this balance. It is not a fixed accessory nor a symbol to be repeated always the same way. It may appear, change shape or disappear entirely. Here it works as a light accent, almost an extension of the spring atmosphere rather than a necessary element.

Compared with the previous variants, this one does not build protection and does not seek shelter. It lets in air, space and movement. The wardrobe does not close around Alice: it loosens just slightly, just enough for her figure to seem more available to the world without losing its own measure.

As in the other plates, cuts, fabrics and details can adapt to the tone of the work that hosts her. What remains is the general feeling: a form of gentleness that does not need to be fragile in order to be luminous.

Spring, here, does not change Alice.

It only offers her a lighter way of staying visible.

06E

Traditional / Kimono

The grace of what is worn with respect

Before reaching the summer lightness of the yukata, the Wardrobe Archive meets Alice in a more composed and ceremonial form. The kimono slows the gesture, orders the posture and asks of her a different presence: no longer gathered to protect herself, nor open to follow a season, but aware of the meaning of what she is wearing.

The construction of the collar, correctly overlapped left over right, the controlled width of the sleeves and the firmness of the obi give the body a precise rhythm. Alice keeps her hands gathered in front of her and lets the fall of the fabric and the measure of her movements speak. She does not appear motionless. She seems rather to choose each gesture with care.

The ivory lets the blue motifs running across the kimono breathe. Lilies, feathers and waves are not added merely as ornament. They enter the weave as echoes of memory, freedom and continuity, adapting Alice’s symbolic language to a traditional form that deserves care and respect. The ornament in her hair also stays discreet, close to her face without altering its simplicity.

The indigo obi visually gathers the whole figure. Its more solid structure contrasts with the soft movement of the sleeves and keeps the richness of the fabric from becoming confusion. Tabi and zori complete the posture, raising it slightly and making each step more measured.

This interpretation does not mean to reduce a cultural tradition to an aesthetic costume. It is a visual encounter built with respect, in which Alice’s symbolism enters without erasing the history and the rules of the form that welcomes it. Motifs, accessories and decorative intensity may vary, but care for the overlap, the balance and the context should not be lost.

Here grace does not come from the desire to appear perfect.

It comes from the way Alice recognises the value of what she wears and chooses to inhabit it with presence.

06F

Yukata

A summer evening that stays in memory

This variant tells the lighter, summery and everyday side of the tradition. It does not have the solemnity of a ceremonial garment. It belongs rather to a summer evening, to the discreet sound of geta, to the air moving between the sleeves, and to those lights that seem to stay suspended even when everything around begins to fade.

Cotton makes the yukata soft and breathable, while the indigo gathers the night without blending into it. Lilies, feathers and rings of water cross the fabric like scattered memories, accompanied by small glimmers that recall fireflies. The 4072 can hide among the motifs too, visible only to those who choose to linger.

The light blue obi interrupts the depth of the blue with a brighter note. It does not only serve to define the figure; it creates a point of balance between the simplicity of the yukata and the details that make it personal. The fan and the hair ornament complete this interpretation without becoming indispensable elements. They could change, be replaced, or not appear at all in another scene.

Like the other proposals in the Wardrobe Archive, this plate too represents a visual possibility and not a model to be reproduced rigidly. Patterns, colours and accessories can adapt to the context, while keeping the summer lightness, the care of the construction and the respect for the traditional form the look draws inspiration from.

The pose is more fluid than in the previous variants. Alice does not stand still before the viewer, but seems caught while moving calmly, as if she were passing through a moment already destined to become a memory.

Some memories do not return through words.

Sometimes a warm evening, a distant light and the soft sound of a step on wood are enough.

07

Symbols & Signifiers

What changes form without losing meaning

This plate gives up Alice’s presence to let what keeps returning around her speak instead.

The blue lily, the feather, the 4072, the choker, the crystal and the resonance signals are not simple accessories to be recognised at a glance. Each one holds a meaning, but none is required to keep the same form forever.

The lily can be born as a flower, become embroidery, emblem or light. It carries memory, purity and that emotional part which keeps resurfacing even after being buried. It does not have to appear always in the same way, nor to occupy the centre of the scene. Sometimes a barely hinted form is enough for its meaning to make itself felt again.

The blue feather, instead, belongs to passage. It can be real, stylised, turn into a small charm or remain only as a luminous trace. It speaks of freedom, but not of a simple freedom without consequences. It is the sign of what manages to cross borders, worlds and identities without belonging completely to any of them. It can fall, travel or point a direction, reminding us that even what seems light can carry a story with it.

The plate does not exhaust every symbol tied to Alice. Among the presences that can accompany her there is also the blue butterfly, not depicted here. It represents above all memory when it stops staying still. It can appear as a light presence, a decorative detail, a luminous echo or a small vital signal suspended in space. It does not only keep the memory: it brings it back, accompanies it and lets it brush again against what seemed far away. In her, memory breathes, returns and sometimes changes form before it is even recognised.

The 4072 is the sharpest sign and, at the same time, the easiest to hide. It can appear as a code, an error, a decoration or an almost invisible trace. It does not always ask to be understood right away. Sometimes it is enough that it stays there, like something that has crossed every iteration without letting itself be erased.

The choker, too, does not define Alice through a single model. It can be simple, carry a ring or a crystal, become barely perceptible or not appear at all. Its value does not depend on the constant presence of the object, but on the idea of identity, focus and containment it can evoke when a scene needs it.

The crystal, instead, gathers what seems to have condensed. A memory, a fragment of the self, a core of resonance. It can appear polished, incomplete, or turn directly into energy.

Glitches, circles and fragmentations belong to the moment when the signal can no longer stay stable. They do not always indicate a break. They can be awakening, transformation, or the attempt of something to make itself recognised through a system that was not ready to listen to it.

Materials, dimensions, colours and intensity can change with every work.

Meaning does not live in the perfect replica of the symbol.

It lives in what keeps reminding us, even when it has already taken another form.
